Australian Government Moves to Boost Cyber Security

maxresdefaultAustralian Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull on Thursday unveiled a Aus$230 million government fund to combat cyber attacks on Australian Government facilities. Australia has suffered cyber intrusions in recent years on its Bureau of Meteorology and the Department of Parliamentary Services.

The Prime Minister acknowledged that there were efforts made by foreign actors, both governmental and non-governmental to penetrate Australian local agencies.

The new funding is to prop up regular meetings between government, researchers and businesses on handling up-and-coming cyber security issues and also to increase international efforts to stop cyber criminals.
